Missouri History:
In 1821, Missouri, the Show Me State, was admitted to the United States and was part of the Missouri Compromise. Situated on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers, Missouri is a state that served as an important hub of commerce and transportation during the earlier times of America. Also, the Gateway Arch found in St. Louis, is a monument to depict Missouri’s role as the “Gateway to the West”. Missouri is home to the largest beer-producing plant in the country, the Budweiser Beer, and is based in St. Louis.
Missouri State Alias:
Missouri is known for its nickname, the Show me State. Although there are various stories that concern the origin of the famous slogan, only one is most widely known to give credit to the alias. According to Missouri’s US Congressman Willard Duncan Vandiver, who coined the phrase in 1899 in one of his speeches, he stated “I come from a state that raises corn and cotton and cockleburs and Democrats, and frothy eloquence neither convinces nor satisfies me. I am from Missouri. You have got to show me.”From there, the phrase now describes the classic character of Missourians — not gullible, conservative and much unwilling to believe into anything not until adequate evidence is shown.
Missouri Population:
According to the United States Census Bureau, Missouri has a population of 6,021,988 and is ranked as 11th biggest population in the United States. Based on studies, there was a notable 0.6% population increase since the state’s last census in 2010 conducted by the bureau. The state’s population density is 87.1 people per square mile, making it the 30th largest density in the whole of US. According to research, Missouri’s population is expected to increase up to 6.8 million people by the year 2030, approximately a 12.9% jump from its current population.
Missouri Industries:
Missouri has an assortment of industry profile. It has an economy that strongly supports various companies all across its state. Because Missouri is strategically located in the heart of America, it has successfully created some of the best businesses in the nation. Plus, one can also attribute their industry prosperity to the state’s very minimal business energy costs and low corporate income taxes, along with skilled workforce.
In 1997 alone, shipment values for manufactured goods in the state were pegged at $96 billion, thanks to its leading manufacturing companies in St. Louis County and Jackson County in Kansas. McDonnel Douglas, headquartered in St. Louis, produces various aerospace products that include all Gemini space capsules and Mercury capsules, the DC-9 and DC-10 commercial jet aircrafts and the popular Tomahawk Cruise Missiles. Missouri is home to 14 Fortune 500 companies as of 1997.

Up north, you can also find biggest proportions of residents of American ancestry.
